Memorial and Special Gifts Committee
The Memorial and Special Gifts Committee will be appointed by the Session and will include a member of the Session, the Board of Trustees, the Board of Deacons, the Treasurer, and three members from the congregation-at-large. The chairperson and the committee secretary will be elected by the committee.

Funds received and designated for specific uses that are considered inappropriate for St. Andrew Church, it will be the responsibility of the Session (in consultation with the Memorial and Special Gifts Committee) to communicate with the donor to obtain permission to reallocate these funds or to return them to the donor and/or his/her heirs or assigns.

Responsibilities

The Memorial and Special Gifts Committee will be responsible for:

1. Developing and maintaining a list of current needs appropriate for memorial or special gifts. This list will be reviewed and updated annually, or as necessary, and submitted to the Session for approval;

2. Submitting to the Session for approval any items offered but not specifically listed;

3. Recognizing gifts by acknowledging them in writing, and recording them in the memorial book and on a wooden plaque;

4. Developing a continuing program to inform the congregation and friends of St. Andrew of the Memorial and Special Gifts Program, and promoting giving to meet defined needs;

5. Recommending the expenditure of memorial and special gift funds (in cooperation with the Session and the families of those persons in whose memory funds have been created) while maintaining a continuing record of income and expenditures from these funds;

6. Recommending the expenditure of memorial and special gift monies to the Session for its approval;

7. Keeping minutes of all its meetings;

8. Appointing a member of the Memorial and Special Gifts Committee to sit on the Stewardship and Finance Committee; and

9. Sending thank you notes to all people who make a donation to the memorial and special gifts fund. When the donation is to be a memorial to an individual, the committee shall also notify the family of the individual being memorialized of the said donation.
