1. Develop and recommend appropriate content and order of worship
in consultation with the Pastor
2. Provide for special worship services such as: Thanksgiving,
Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and
Easter Sunrise services
3. Provide for appropriate care and décor of sanctuary:
a. Special decorations, flower calendar (flowers will not
be used during the season of Lent and Advent)
b. Sanctuary furniture and fixtures, including the Communion
table and the cross behind the pulpit, neither of which may be
moved unless prior approval of the Session is secured
4. Use of candles in the sanctuary requires special coordination
with the Worship Ministry
5. Provide for Communion services and ensure elders are available
to serve both at worship services and for shut-ins
6. Provide for oversight/direction to liturgists and ushers
7. Provide oversight/guidance to a music program involving
children, youth, adults, the band, and the hand bell choir(s)
insuring that music is an integral part of worship and the church
program
8. Provide for adequate supporting facilities and services for
music programs, including maintenance, repair, and tuning of organ
and pianos, robes, music, books, special musicians, substitute
Assistant Director of Music, substitute Directors of Music, etc.
9. Provide special music programs including ones involving youth
such as Easter, Choirfest, Christmas, and visiting choir programs
10. Recruit and recommend candidates to the Personnel Committee
for the position of Director of Music, and Assistant Director of
Music for approval by the Session
11. Prepare position descriptions for the Director of Music and
Assistant Director of Music to be submitted to the Personnel
Committee for approval by the Session
12. With representatives from the Personnel Committee,
participate in the annual review of the Director of Music and of the
Assistant Director of Music
13. Provide for pulpit supply during the Pastor’s absence
14. Provide input to annual church budget
15. Assist in preparation for the service of baptism, including
coordinating selection of sponsor and of the elder participating in
the sacrament of baptism
16. Oversee nursery during worship services, including
preparation and maintenance of lists of weekly nursery caregivers
